May is here and spring has fully sprung, and Mother’s Day is the best time to celebrate our moms and mother figures in our lives. With that being said, sometimes it is painfully hard to find the perfect gift for the people who mean so much to us. Never fear, because we have compiled a list of great gifts and Mother’s Day ideas. 

 

Local Pop Up is all about keeping it local, and now is a time where it is more critical than ever to support small businesses. Having just released their Spring Gift Guide, Local Pop Up is a great place to find a ton of locally made, unique gifts.

Abes Drawings 

Abe launched his company in June 2018. Abe’s Drawings became his way to pursue his passion for art. He creates fun, abstract pieces with toothpicks!

 

Aline Prints + Design

Aline Moreaux has loved art, animals, and Louisiana all her life, and her work reflects these passions. As a Baton Rouge native and graphic design student at Louisiana State University, she has really enjoyed connecting with the local Baton Rouge community through markets and events.

Andrew Pullman Pottery

Andrew started his company in November 2017. Andrew Pullman Pottery is dedicated to making one of a kind yet affordable pieces for everyone to enjoy. With the help of his wife Lydia, who holds a degree in Fashion Merchandising from LSU, Andrew is continually inspired to create works that are not only trendy, but great staples for any kitchen or wardrobe.

 

Annie Claire Designs

Annie Claire Designs creates handmade accessories that are colorful, fun and made for everyday wear. Owner and jewelry crafter, Annie Claire L. Bass, started her business more than 10 years ago and it has grown into an accessory line sold in multiple stores throughout the Southeast and online. 

Basic Bee Shop

Basic Bee Shop sources all of the honey they sell from their personal hives in Baton Rouge. Their non-flavored honey (Well, it’s honey flavored) has been hand sourced by Annie and her family from their hives. For all other products, they purchase locally gathered honey to help support small businesses similar to Basic Bee Shop.

Be Kind Body Products

Be Kind Body Products is a local bath & body products shop featuring handmade soaps, bath bombs, bubble bars, sugar scrubs, and more! Kirsha Barker hopes that her products help women realize it is okay to treat themselves and make time for themselves, because everyone absolutely deserves it! 

Chad Schoonmaker

We love the burst of color that CS Creates brings to any space & excited to welcome Chad to the Local Pop-Up Virtual Shop! Chad Schoonmaker is an artist, photographer, husband, and dad residing in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. You can find his work all over Baton Rouge and a featured artist at our Holiday Markets, two years in a row! 

Courtney Miley Art

Courtney Miley is a self taught artist & a native of Louisiana. For the past five years she has jumped headfirst into the abstract world of painting and mixed media. Abstract painting has become her way of saying  things she cannot express with words.

Elohim + Nim

Elohim + Nim’s mission is to empower women by creating jobs for them and bringing fair trade accessories and apparel made in Honduras. Owner Nimia Cabrera Saleh, says what started as a simple idea to empower these women by teaching them new skills, turned into something so beautiful. 

Essentially NOLA

Christine Ross with Essentially Nola started making skin care products in 2013 after her son was born, and she found the ingredients list on most drugstore products terrifying. Today, her mission of creating natural skin care regimens through promoting health, happiness, and healing.

Good Granoly

Good Granoly is a female owned, family-run granola bakery in Shreveport, Louisiana. They work hard to create the best granola you’ve ever tasted by using quality ingredients in our handcrafted recipes. No preservatives and no skimping on delicious ingredients like quality fruits and nuts, and rich, local honey. 

Hands Producing Hope

This is a small collection of the many many amazing products, local wonder woman Rebecca Gardner offers through Hands Producing Hope. She has been able to provide dignified work, education, & hope for women & families in Costa Rica & Rwanda, while offering absolute treasures to our local community.

Hannah L Creative

Photographer, artist, wife, mama, and friend. Hannah Lugibihl wears a lot of hats, but the artist hat is the one we’re excited to feature here! She has the unique ability to see light and color in a way others might not. Through expression and her love for art, Hannah L Creative was created. She strived to use all of the things I create to bring joy, encouragement, and light to all who experience it. 

Jasper + Onyx Jewelry

Jasper + Onyx is a local jewelry company from Baton Rouge established in 2018 by Katie Stepleton. Her desire is to make beautiful jewelry at an affordable cost. Proceeds from this company have also gone to help fund medical mission trips to Sierra Leone, Africa and San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

Kismet Cosmetics

We can’t get enough of Caitlin Picou’s Covington based beauty brand: Kismet Cosmetics. She launched Kismet Cosmetics with the Opulent Bronzing Lotion in 2013, growing into a full line of skincare and makeup! She’s even been featured on the TV show Billion Dollar Buyer! 

Leaf + Root

Leaf + Root’s best selling Herbal Skin Remedy was first created as a holiday gift in 2013 by Devan Benoit-Guidry. Amazing testimonials and the demand for additional goods came shortly after this salve remedy was gifted to friends and family. Realizing the potential to be more than a gift, Leaf + Root was founded. Leaf + Root can be found in nearly 30 shops sharing their path to everyday wellness with you.

 

Love Life Soap Co

Owner and soapmaker of Love Life Soap Co, Adair Gautreau, grew up in a small town in South Louisiana. Love Life Soap Co.’s products are made with natural ingredients, have no artificial fragrances or coloring, and are ethically and sustainably sourced. All soaps are palm oil free and handmade in small batches in St. Amant, Louisiana.

 

Magnolia Creative Co.

Magnolia Creative is an art and design studio that focuses on all things paper, paint and party based out of Shreveport, Louisiana. All of the designs are hand-lettered or painted by owner, Emily Welch, with a focus on true Southern style.

Mattea Studio

Meet Cayla Mattea Zeek, an artist from South Louisiana and the artist behind Mattea Studios. Her artistic process began very young with drawing rainbows, diving into children’s books, creating plays, making up stories and games for the neighborhood kids to play. Today, she creates detailed illustrations and fun wordplay. South Louisiana is a big part of her heart and mind in the creative process. 

Margie and the Moon

Inspired by the resiliency of New Orleans, it’s people, and a landscape that refuses to take no for an answer Margie Tillman Ayres planted her roots in a community that enjoys the simple pleasures of life, which is beautifully mirrored in Margie and the Moon. 

Moneauxs

Handmade by owner Lindsey Smith, Moneauxs specialize in creating unique and customizable gifts that celebrate every occasion. Perfect for hostess gifts, teacher gifts, dinner parties, tailgates and the most special of life’s celebrations.

NOLA Tawk

NOLA TAWK is a lifestyle brand based out of New Orleans, Louisiana with designs that are what they like to call “Southern-centric”. They use fair-trade materials and water-based inks that are environmentally safe so you can feel good and live well with every purchase you make from NOLA TAWK. 

Okoye Couture

Okoye Couture launched in May 2018 by Morgan Udoh, as a passion project.  It quickly developed into a wearable art small business that focuses on storytelling through polymer clay creations. Inspired by Morgan’s own genealogy research.

Painted Post Studio

Sarah Guidry is a graphic designer, artist, and small business owner living in the heart of Mid-City Baton Rouge with a passion for our local community. She’s the lead graphic designer for local apparel company, Sweet Baton Rouge and one of the founders of the Louisiana makers collective at Local Pop-Up! 

Red Stick Spice

Owner of Red Stick Spice and local ‘Spice Girl’ Chef Anne’s Mid-City Baton Rouge Spice Shop is a marvel on the senses, with a specialty in gourmet salts, spices, blends, oils and balsamics. Anne and her team have bundled customer favorites into gift-ready packages, truly perfect for anyone who enjoys time in the kitchen.

Ryan Be Tryin’

Louisiana native and Ryan Be Tryin’ creator Ryan Sonnier creates the best custom earrings out there. Handmade to order in Deridder, Louisiana, Ryan taught herself how to do all of the editing and printing required to make her jewelry, making Ryan Be Tryin’ a true home-grown, self-run business success story.

Sharon Furrate Bailey Art

Sharon Furrate Bailey is known for her use of color and theme based whimsical art. She has been a regularly featured artist in several events including the annual White Light Nights Festival &  Hot Art Cool Nights Festival, both in the Mid-City Historical District of Baton Rouge. 

Simply So YaYa

Rachel Laymoun, owner, created Simply So YAYA when a handful of organic oils to treat her skin turned into a passion for providing a luxury skincare line at an accessible price point. Rachel tells us, “Here at So YAYA, we want everyone to be able to afford to love their skin.”

Spot Colors

Nicole LaBranche is a graphic designer and 3rd generation crafter. She designs and produces modern DIY cross stitch kits, by hand. She learned cross stitch as a child and when she decided to pick it up again as an adult, she felt most of the design options were outdated. That began her quest to create something new. Today she has designs featuring fandom, foul language and fun creatures. 

Studio Marita

Marita Gentry, Studio Marita artist, discovered her passion 15 years ago. Her focus is primarily paintings, but like most creatives, she has many outlets. Painting large expressive florals is her favorite, but she loves painting her everyday life, from the animals she loves to visiting in New Orleans, with bright bold colors and marks.

ThistleBee Art

Mitzi Ferguson, artist behind ThistleBee Art has always been interested in art, but over time it developed into capturing the wildlife around her, in Louisiana. Her curation of local birds & animals portraits is inspiring and exciting to see how she expands into prints!
