Where To Go: Skin Rituals BR Facial Review

Where To Go: Skin Rituals BR Facial Review

Skin Rituals Review by Sweet Baton Rouge Insiders

Hey there, Meredith here. One of the Sweet Baton Rouge Insiders. I’m about to share with you my experience with Sarah who owns Skin Rituals BR. Let me first start off with who Skin Rituals is and why I think this lovely place should be on your WHERE TO GO list this month in Baton Rouge.

Sarah Filpo is the owner and  Licensed Esthetician of Skin Rituals. She has worked with other day spas in the Baton Rouge area before opening her own space. She has a special interest in facial massage, contouring, lymph draining, and sculpting techniques for the treatments she offers or what she likes to call “low tech, high touch” facials. In 2016, she studied the Bellanina Facelift Massage technique with Nina Howard, Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Bellanina Institute. Other certifications for facial massage techniques include Gua Sha Jade Stone Facial Rejuvenation and Thai Herbal Poultice Sculpting Massage. She’s also Reiki 1 certified through the Transformative Esthetics in-person training and has been really enjoying and learning more about incorporating these modalities to help further achieve a sense of wellbeing.

Going into my facial booking with Sarah, my focus points was to find a facial treatment that would help improve my everyday dry face. Let me breakdown myself a little bit. I’m 39 years old, CEO who works long and lots of hours a week, midday — I struggle with my face becoming dryer as the day passes (you know where the oil or moisturizer has worn off) and, let’s be honest “tired looking.” Dryness was my focus area and where I wanted to get the most bang for my treatment. She suggested we do the Gua Sha Jade Stone Ritual Facial. The whole experience was really lovely. I’m going to share and walk you through my full experience from when I got there.

Location: Let’s start here. Skin Rituals is located in the CityPlace shopping center right off of Jefferson and near College inside Sola Salon Studio 2651 Citiplace Court Suite 100, #16.. First of all, the Sola Salon Studios in Baton Rouge is a community of other boutique salon owners creating their own environment, with elegant and private studio spaces. Think of it as a food hall for spa and salons… I’ll take one of each, please. Inside Sola Salon, I was pleasantly surprised and felt very comfortable and was very inviting.

Treatment: To start off our treatment, she started off with a relaxing foot soak and then rub. It set the tone of the rest of my treatment. The facial I was receiving was for 80 minutes of pure relaxation. The Gua Sha Jade Stone Ritual Facial Uses the first-ever patented Miracle Touch Jade Stone Board with 9-specially designed angles. Gua Sha is a traditional Chinese treatment that includes the use of a small jade board to gently massage, manipulate and stimulate specific energy points along the face and body, using a “scraping” motion which helps break up blood stagnation, release toxins, and promote lymphatic drainage. Throughout the facial, I also received arm/hand, and foot massages. When Sarah finished this treatment, I felt so relaxed and my face was really glowing afterward. My goal as a 39-year-old is to wear less makeup as I can, I’m trying to hold onto that fountain of youth where I can, to look as natural as I can by taking the right steps and measures towards my outer health. I’m writing this post about two weeks later and my face still has that glow to it. I’m already excited to get on the books for my next facial with Sarah.
